Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 13 (Reporter Ma Zhuoyan) On the afternoon of May 13, President Xi Jinping held talks with Brazilian President Lula, who was on a state visit to China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping pointed out that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan last year, the two sides jointly announced that they would elevate their relations between the two countries into a China-Pakistan community of shared future with a more just world and a more sustainable planet. This strategic decision has drawn up a grand blueprint for the next "golden 50 years" of China-Pakistan relations. Faced with the international situation of chaos and intertwining, China and Pakistan must uphold the original aspiration of taking responsibility for mankind's progress and fulfilling their responsibilities for global development, deepen the construction of a community of shared future between China and Pakistan, continuously deepen the docking of development strategies, and work together to drive southern countries around the world to strengthen unity and cooperation.

Xi Jinping stressed that standing at a new historical starting point, China and Pakistan must first adhere to strategic mutual trust, consolidate the foundation of China-Pakistan community with a shared future, uphold the fine tradition of mutual respect and mutual benefit and win-win results, support each other on issues involving the core interests and major concerns of the other party, strengthen all-round exchanges at all levels, and ensure the long-term, healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. Second, we must persist in expanding cooperation, enrich the connotation of China-Pakistan community with a shared future, deepen the effective docking of the "Belt and Road" initiative with Brazil's development strategy, give full play to the role of various cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, strengthen cooperation in traditional fields such as infrastructure, agriculture, and energy, expand the Xinjiang border of cooperation such as energy transformation, aerospace, digital economy, and artificial intelligence, and create more highlights for the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. Third, we must adhere to cultural exchanges and increase the vitality of China-Pakistan community with a shared future. Taking the opportunity of holding the "China-Pakistan Cultural Year" next year as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in culture, education, tourism, media, local governments, etc., and provide more convenience for personnel exchanges between the two sides. Fourth, we must adhere to multilateral cooperation and enhance the quality of China-Pakistan community with a shared future. As the two major developing countries in the eastern and western hemispheres, the two countries should strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the BRICS, and the China-Latin America Forum, jointly uphold multilateralism, improve global governance, maintain international economic and trade order, and clearly oppose unilateralism, protectionism and bullying.

Lula said that Pakistan and China respect each other and share a shared destiny. The relationship between the two countries is indestructible and cannot be interfered with and destroyed by any external factors. Unlike other major countries, China has always sincerely supported and helped Latin American countries, including Brazil, achieve economic and social development. Pakistan is willing to deepen strategic cooperation with China, promote the construction of a community with a shared future between Pakistan and China, build a more just, peaceful and prosperous world, and set an example for all countries. Pakistan is willing to connect with its own development strategy and the "Belt and Road" initiative to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy and trade, infrastructure, aerospace, finance, etc. Expand youth and cultural exchanges, and enhance exchanges and friendly feelings between the two peoples. China's achievements in poverty alleviation are admirable. Brazil is willing to learn from China's experience and help more people get rid of poverty and hunger. Under the current circumstances, it is crucial to firmly defend multilateralism. Protectionism and excessive tariffs cannot bring about development and prosperity, but will only cause chaos. China's firm attitude towards responding to global challenges gives all countries strength and confidence. Pakistan is willing to strengthen strategic cooperation with China in international affairs, jointly safeguard the common interests of the global and southern countries, and safeguard international fairness and justice.

The two heads of state also exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis and agreed that as a progressive force in peace-loving, China and Pakistan should strengthen communication and coordination, play the role of the "Friends of Peace" group, support Russia and Ukraine to start direct dialogue, and work with southern countries around the world to continue to play a constructive role in resolving the crisis.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of 20 cooperation documents in the fields of development strategy docking, science and technology, agriculture, digital economy, finance, inspection and quarantine, media and other fields.

The two heads of state also met with reporters together.

The two sides issued the "Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Federative Republic of Brazil on Strengthening Working Together to Build a More Just World and More Sustainable Planet and Joint Statement of China and Brazil on the Ukrainian Crisis".
