Make the school doc a classroom for youth

In the History Museum of Peking University, there is a simple and slightly mottled plaque with three large regular script characters "Xiatang".

Some people say that this plaque is the ancestral plaque of Chinese universities.

This 127-year-old plaque came from the storm of the late Qing Dynasty's efforts to save the nation, witnessed the hasty end of the Hundred Days Reform, and endured the humiliation brought by the artillery fire of the Eight-Nation Alliance.

Through this plaque, on May 4, 1919, thousands of Peking University students led the Beijing Students' Declaration on Beijing Students' Community drafted by Xu Deheng to Tiananmen Square and participated in the vigorous May Fourth Movement.

Su Jiarong, a Peking University student who personally experienced the May Fourth Movement, recorded the thrilling day in his diary.

This diary is now properly placed in the exhibition cabinet of the Peking University History Museum.

Also carefully treasured is a 96-point test paper in the History Museum of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

This is the final exam paper for hydraulics during his study at Shanghai Jiaotong University in June 1933. At that time, when teachers at Shanghai Jiaotong University set questions, they would always "difficult" students on the last big question, and most students were difficult to answer. When facing this test paper of "Jiaojiao University Formula", Qian Xuesen, in his youth, gave an answer that was almost "ceiling level" with his extremely high talent and hard work: this test paper has clear ideas for solving problems, the process is concise and perfect, and the English writing is beautiful and neat. However, when copying the last question, this "super academic master" missed a "s" in the abbreviation of the formula "Ns", and was "sharply deducted 4 points" by the teacher and finally got 96 points.

At the Aerospace Museum of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the treasure of the museum that is carefully collected is very "hard-core": this is a light passenger aircraft called "Beijing One". In 1958, more than 1,000 Beihang University teachers and students tried to produce the first light passenger aircraft in New China in just 100 days and nights.

Also "hard core" are the celebrity exhibits in the aerospace hall of Harbin Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Harbin Institute of Technology"). On the second floor of the Harbin Institute of Technology Space Museum, there is a set of Chinese space station models. Among them, the small robot arm of the Insight Cabin, jointly developed by Harbin Institute of Optical Precision Mechanics and Physics, Changchun Institute of Optical Precision Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has supported astronauts to successfully complete the exit activities on the cabin.

The School Doc is a "traditional culture" classroom around college students

When he first walked into the Ethnic Museum of the Central University for Nationalities, Yu Xiao (pseudonym), a student of ethnology majoring, was a little surprised: "Although the museum is relatively small, the geometric pattern clothing of the Li people in Hainan, the fish-skin clothes of the Hezhe people, the mouth strings and Dongbulu are all truly placed in front of him." This museum located on campus has become a "three-dimensional dictionary" for him to understand textbook knowledge.

Yu Xiao, who is currently in his senior year, recalled that when he was in his sophomore year, he accidentally learned that the school had an ethnic museum open to the public and went to visit it out of professional curiosity. "When studying "Chinese Ethnography", the textbook mentioned the Hezhe people's fish-skin coats, and you can see what the real thing looks like in the museum." This confirmation of "from words to real thing" makes the abstract cultural concept concrete and sensible.

As a student majoring in ethnology, Yu Xiaochang regards the museum as the "second classroom". "For example, when studying the fishing and hunting culture of northern ethnic groups, the fish skin making tools in the museum are the most intuitive textbooks." In his opinion, the greatest value of this "small and beautiful" museum lies in its reality: "You can see the essence of the culture of various ethnic groups in a timely manner without going to all parts of the country, which is a blessing for professional learning."

As a well-known university museum in my country, the Jilin University Archaeology and Art Museum allows students to "play with flowers" in the school museum by carrying out lively activities. Since last year, the museum has successively launched activities such as "Night Tour to Song City" and "Huating Autumn Moon - Museum Social Night". During the "Huating Autumn Moon - Museum Social Night" event, the museum staff designed game sessions such as "Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest", "Qu Shui Liushang", and "Yu Songs and Pot Pots", and suggested that students wear Hanfu to go to the event site to make the event more atmosphere. Thousands of students participated in each event, which also attracted the surrounding citizens and tourists.

The museum displays stone adzes and stone axes unearthed from the Zhongbao Island site in prehistoric times, plows and rakes for traditional farming. They are used as production tools to confirm that the Three Gorges region is one of the important sources of Yangtze River civilization.

In Shi Guanghai's view, university museums can become hubs of regional culture. "University museums have their own uniqueness. Compared with social public museums, university museums can include the research results of university researchers in recent years, and science popularization is more or more time-consuming. In addition, its scientific popularization is often professional and systematic, with diverse and comprehensive sources of collections. In addition to having good educational and scientific research functions, university museums are also an ideal hall for young people to visit, study and innovate." Shi Guanghai said.

Take a "Ideological and Political Class" at the school doc

As the chairman of the School History Research Branch of the Chinese Society of Higher Education, Tang Tao, director of the Archives of East China Normal University and director of the School History Party History Office, has visited the school history museums of hundreds of universities of various types. He said that every historical event, every historical archive, every school history object and every historical picture displayed by the School History Museum are precious materials for ideological and political education. Integrating venue education into the entire process of ideological and political education is an important construction goal and concept of university history museums.

During the live broadcast of the "Hundred Colleges and Universities School Expo Joint Exhibition Plan", Zhang Ding introduced a series of moving "family letters from the War of Resistance Against Japan" to the audience.

When you enter the Harbin Institute of Technology Museum, the audience can have an in-depth understanding of the story of Academician Shen Shizhao's team of the Civil Engineering School of Harbin Institute of Technology spent 8 years to "open the eyes" for "sky eyes".

In order to increase the "immersive" experience effect, Yunnan University restored the scene of going to the court in the history museum of the school. On July 15, 1946, Mr. Wen Yiduo delivered the famous "Last Speech" in the court. In addition, the History Museum of Yunnan University also displays the encouraging words written by Zhou Baozhong to the Yunnan University Advancement Group in 1953, which reads: "The great and glorious task will fall on the shoulders of the young people in the new era, and we must continue to struggle from the beginning to the end."

"The School History Museum plays the value of field educating people by displaying outstanding alumni and advanced typical deeds, recruiting students to serve as volunteers, and opening "immersive" activity areas in the museum." Tang Tao believes that college and university school experiments have unique value in cultivating young people's cultural identity and family and country feelings.

According to a relevant person in charge of China Youth Daily, this newspaper and the School History Research Branch of the China Higher Education Society jointly launched the "Hundred Colleges and Universities School Expo Joint Exhibition Plan", aiming to promote college cultural and museum resources to the society through live broadcast, create "cloud ideological and political courses" close to young people, and give full play to the educational role of "educating people with history" and "cultivating people with culture".
