US Commerce Secretary warns: No trade agreement with Japan and South Korea in the short term

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik warned that Japan-South Korea trade negotiations would be trickier than Britain.

US President Trump announced at the White House on the 8th local time that the United States and the United Kingdom have reached a new trade agreement, partially withdrawing tariffs in specific areas, further expanding market access for products between the two sides, and the final details of the agreement will be finalized in the next few weeks.

According to Bloomberg, hours after Trump announced a framework agreement with the UK, Lutnik said in an interview with the media that negotiations with Japan and South Korea would take longer than the just-announced U.S.-U.K.

"You have to spend a lot of time negotiating with Japan and South Korea. These will not be quickly reached agreements." (International Finance News)
