my country's first "Scenery, Fire and Storage Integration" export ultra-high voltage project is put into production

Xinhua News Agency, Jinan, May 8 (Reporters Dai Xiaohe and Wang Mingyu) State Grid announced on the 8th that the Longdong-Shandong ±800 kV ultra-high voltage DC project was completed and put into operation, marking the completion and commissioning of my country's first large-scale comprehensive energy base export project of "wind, light, fire and storage integration" in China. More than half of the electric energy transmitted by this ultra-high voltage is pure green electricity such as wind energy, photovoltaics, and energy storage.

The Longdong-Shandong project is another major energy artery in my country's "West-to-East Power Transmission" energy source. It starts in Qingyang, Gansu and ends in Tai'an, Shandong. It adopts the "double 800" ultra-high voltage direct current transmission technology with a rated voltage of ±800 kV and a rated capacity of 8 million kilowatts. The transmission distance is 915 kilometers and an investment of 20.2 billion yuan. The project can transmit 36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to Shandong every year to ensure Shandong's electricity demand.

Zhang Zhigang, chairman of State Grid, said that as the "super artery" of power transmission, ultra-high voltage can achieve high efficiency, long-distance and large-capacity transmission of electricity, which is of great significance to optimizing my country's energy resource allocation and alleviating the contradiction between energy shortage in the east and resource enrichment in the west. The project starts production and will strongly support the construction of the "Shagohuang" large base and the large-scale development and utilization of new energy, and will effectively serve the high-quality development of Shandong and Gansu provinces and the Yellow River Basin.

Wen Shugang, chairman of China Huaneng, said that the project is an important manifestation of the cooperation between the east and the west and the coordinated development of regional cooperation, fully demonstrating my country's institutional advantages in concentrating its efforts to accomplish major tasks.

As my country's first large-scale comprehensive energy base for "scenic, light, fire and storage integration", the supporting power supply installed capacity is 14.5 million kilowatts, including 10.5 million kilowatts of new energy. At the main power source point, China Huaneng Longdong Energy Base, China, there is also a carbon capture project of the world's largest and lowest energy consumption of coal-fired power plants. It is known as a "carbon capture" and can capture 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide each year, which is equivalent to processing the carbon emissions of 600,000 vehicles in a year.

Up to now, the State Grid has completed and put into operation 39 ultra-high voltage projects in total, with the total mileage of the line being more than one circle around the earth's equator, forming the world's largest ultra-high voltage transmission network, providing strong support for ensuring safe and reliable power supply and promoting green and low-carbon development.
