On April 30, China Tea Company and Bawang Tea Ji signed a strategic cooperation agreement to reach strategic cooperation on raw material supply, technology co-research, global market expansion, and industrial standard formulation. This cooperation plays an important role in promoting the quality of the tea industry and the "going out" of Chinese tea.
China Tea Company is affiliated to COFCO Group, and is the leading enterprise with the highest tea market share in China and the only enterprise in China that has layout in the entire industrial chain and operates all categories of tea. Its tea product system covers six traditional teas, green tea, yellow tea, white tea, oolong tea, black tea, and black tea, as well as flower tea (reprocessed tea). China Tea Company was founded in 1949, the same age as New China. It is the writer and witness of the history of tea development in New China. For more than 70 years since its establishment, it has been a leader in Chinese tea technology and an innovator in process technology, and a leader in industry standardization. For example, it has promoted the implementation of Liubao tea rapid aging process, Dianhong intelligent withering fermentation system, and Lihua tea low-temperature scenting technology.
The Bawang Tea Girl was founded in Yunnan in 2017. For more than seven years, it has always focused on "tea", adhered to the concept of "making tea into the bones", adhered to the brand mission of "making friends with tea, connecting everyone every day with a cup of tea", combined oriental tea culture with modern consumption scenarios, explored regional niche tea, and provided consumers with convenient and healthy fresh oriental tea, helping to improve the technological upgrade of fresh tea drinks, and promoting the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese tea culture.
Previously, China Tea Company had already started close cooperation with Bawang Tea Ji. Since the fourth quarter of 2024, China Tea Company has steadily supplied hundreds of tons of raw leaf tea to Bawang Tea Ji and helped it conduct regional testing of its products. Many celebrity items that are popular among consumers, such as "Boya Juexian", are behind them high-quality tea from China Tea. According to public data, as of August 2024, "Boya Juexian" has sold a total of 600 million cups.
This strategic cooperation shows that new tea beverage companies have become an important part of China's tea ecology. According to estimates by the China Economic Industry Research Institute, Zhiyan Consulting and other institutions, the new tea beverage industry purchased more than 200,000 tons of upstream tea raw materials in 2022, accounting for about 10% of my country's total domestic tea sales that year. Previous public data showed that the total tea purchase volume of Bawang Tea Ji in 2024 was nearly 13,000 tons, which can effectively affect and promote the further development of the domestic tea ecology.
In addition, this cooperation will rely on China Tea Company's full-category tea export capabilities and operation experience, as well as Bawang Tea Ji's overseas layout capabilities, to create a new model for tea companies to cooperate overseas. At the same time, it will also use China Tea Company's capabilities in supply chain, product research and development and matching, and Bawang Tea Ji's product innovation capabilities to jointly achieve complementary advantages and strong alliances between the upstream, middle and downstream of the industrial chain.
